Side by Side Apprentice Charlotte McLaughlin has been highly commended for her entry in the Dorset Warde Apprentice of the Year Award 2016!! The Warde Apprentice Award seeks to acknowledge and celebrate an apprentice’s exceptional contributions to their workplace. Charlotte, who is on placement at Sunny Day Nursery, Dorchester, was entered in the competition by Side by Side following an extremely successful apprenticeship placement and course.
Charlotte acknowledges 'As an apprentice I have had to work hard and study hard but I believe by working as part of a team alongside other practitioners who are qualified, I have demonstrated that you can be learning and still be a valued member of the team who contributes significantly to day to day working life.
I have benefited hugely from my
apprenticeship, mainly because before I enrolled I was unsure of which career I
wanted to definitely follow. I am now positive that I made the correct decision
and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being an apprentice and learning
as I work, constantly being able to put the theory into practice. Moreover, I
have gained in confidence during my apprenticeship as I have been given the
time to develop and learn whilst adapting to a new job.'
The benefit of proving herself as a valued member of the team is now that Charlotte has been offered a full-time position at Sunny Day Nursery, 'I have been offered a full-time position once I finish my apprenticeship and I think this shows that I have performed well as a member of the team and have truly become a ‘Sunny Days Person’.'
